"His
slaves said to him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them (the weeds) up?' He
replied, 'No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with
them. Let them grow together until harvest...'" |

As I heard
this gospel this weekend, I pondered...I wonder if the reason God doesn't nip
those pesky weeds in the bud and get rid of them right away is because we are
all a bit "weedy" at times.
Jesus showed us time and time again the power of redemption...the Good
Thief, the woman at the well. He
knew that even the best of people make mistakes and He wanted to give them
time to change their lives and do better. He also knew that miracles happen
and even the baddest sort could turn around and repent. Jesus' miracles
showed that He could heal the sick...turn water into wine...raise the
dead. Couldn't we expect that
Jesus could turn weeds into wheat?
No one is truly all good or all bad. Even the best of us has a few weedy
thistles. But we can be converted
and healed and our weediness can be loved into wheat...by God. Love, Heidi |
