Altar Servers

Any child who has received First Communion and is in fourth grade through high school and has a desire to serv is welcome. These young people are trained by the Pastor or deignee and added to the Parish Corps of Servers. Training may be one or two sessions for one to two hours. Schedules are made up monthly and you serve at least once a month.

Arts Environment

This ministry develops the spirit of the liturgical seasons within the churches. A group of four or five people is involved to keep the colors and displays including flowers, figures, and fabrics current. Each change involves working on a ladder and in the highest parts of the chuch. Replacing candles, laundering altar linens, and ordering flower arrangements are among the duties of this ministry.

Choir Music

This ministry handles teh coordination of the music, musicians, Choir and the Cantors for all the Masses and for other special occasions occuring in the Idaho Falls Catholic Community.
There are three specific groups within this ministry:
Choir: This group is responsible for three Masses, one on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and the other two on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Another choir has been started within the parish and now sings during the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. The ministry is always interested in developing a different musical approach. THis ministry also coordinates the music books with the pastoral team and helps to mend the binders. Life Team: This group handles the Life Teen Mass and music held on Sunday evening at the 6:00 p.m. Mass. The sacred music used in this Mass is attuned to the youth of our community. It is lively, more relevant and encourages youth participation in the Mass. The music is upbeat and brings the worship to the youth. The Life Teen band consists of youth and adults and they invit musicaians to participate with this group. Musical instruments currently being used are the trombone, horn, saxophone, base guitar and the drums.
Hispanic Choir: This ministry provide the music for both Spanish Masses as well as other special events occuring in the Parish. The Masses are family oriented and the following choirs; Las Angelitas, Christo Esta Vivo adn a youth choir; La Annunciation providing the music, Musical instruments used feature the base guitar, tambourines and the drums.

Eucharistic Ministers

In order to serve as a Eucharistic minister, one must be confirmed, able to serve at two Masses per month, and willing to attend an hourlong training session. New ministers are trained by the pastor and added to the cadre of Eucharistic ministers. Responsibilities include setting up the Sacred Vessels before Mass, assisting in the distribution of the Eucharist and purifying the Sacred Vessels after Mass. Schedules for Eucharistic ministers are mainly emailed but can be mailed as a hard copy to those without email access. Recruitment is ongoing.

This ministry is charged with ensuring that all of the pre-Mass preparations are completed. This includes checking the books for the Lectionary and the Sacramentary for proper location and placement and setting the Credence Table and Ambo for the Eucharistic ministers. Volunteers are trained and helped until they are comfortable being on their own.

Lectors

A lector must be a Catholic of high school age or older, have a strong voice and be willing to read at one Mass per month. The coordinator has the reponsibility to train new lectors, assign qualified lectors, communicate any necessary information to all lectors, and coordinate assignments with the Eucharistic ministry. There are no regularly scheduled meetings or social activities.

Liturgical Commission

This ministry assists the Pastor. For the most part head ministers for these functions operate autonomously but coordination meetings are held prior to the liturgical seasons

Ushers

The Ushers welcome parishioners and guests as they enter the church for weekend Masses and at other special celebrations. They distribute rograms and bulletins, collect offerings, help people find seats when attendance is at capacity and identify individuals for the presentation of the Gifts. In general this group strives to assure that the church is comfortable and the ambience is pleasant. The ushers operate informally to ensure these functions are accomplished at each Mass.
