Biography:

I'm responsible for providing a religious education program and a Confirmation preparation program for youth grades 9 - 12.

I have been serving in this ministry for 3 years. Before entering youth ministry, I was a full-time, "stay at home" wife and mom for many years. I'm married to Dean Tracy and have 3 children (Mackenzie 21, Jordan 18, Sydney 14). I home educated our children from 1995 until my two youngest entered the private/public school systems in 2003. I have a background in administration and had worked for the Federal Government for 17 years. I resigned as the Assistant Finance and Administrative Officer for the Department of Energy at the Naval Reactors Facility in 1993 to stay home and dedicate myself to raising my two children.

I have taught elementary religious education classes since I graduated from high school. I'm currently a Eucharist Minister and have Lectored for many years. I attended Cursillo in 2002, and have worked on Cursillo teams since.

Name: Marilou Hart

Biography:

  • Raised in a Devout Irish Catholic home in Butte, Montana our faith was always the foundation of our lives myself along with my siblings attended 12 years of parochial schools and served our faith community in many ways. Our parents instilled in us the belief that your faith is what sustains you. On the occasion that we may have not wanted to attend to Mass my father is known to say “I hate to think of what would happen to you if the Lord did not pay attention to you for 1 hour a week” and so we went to Mass.
  • I am involved in this ministry to be a part of the faith journey of the children of our community to share with them the fullness of receiving the Eucharist for the first time and to help them in forming their foundation of faith. Watching the children experience the true communion of our faith in the Eucharist is a blessing and a joy that I can not fully describe.

  • Teaching is a matter of the heart. My heart sings when I am with children helping them learn, grow, and develop in the eyes of the Lord. I began teaching in the fall of 1981 with 32 first graders. Throughout the following years, I have taught 1st Graders, 6th Graders, Intermediate Multiage, 7th Graders, ISU Student Teachers, BYU Idaho Education Method Courses, Professional Development Classes for District 91, and now the children of Holy Rosary Bi-parish School. I began my own educational career at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in LaHabra California. With that excellent 12 year start, I have earned a BA in Elementary Education from ISU, a K – 12 Reading Endorsement, a MA in Curriculum and Development from ISU, a MA in Pastoral Studies from Loyola of New Orleans, and Administrator Certification pre-K through 12 from Gonzaga University.

Hobbies:

  • Music places me in the arms of God. Singing at the Mass liturgies, in the classroom, or while traveling in the car allows me to pray and connect to our God. Thus, music is an important expression of my love for Him and a hobby that feeds my soul. Two sons, seven grandchildren, one husband, and an occasional golf game fill the rest of my days when not shepherding Holy Rosary School.

Biography:

  • Junior high ministry has been a passion of mine since I was 18. I have served in many different churches, in different capacities, but usually with junior or senior high age students. I started at the Idaho Falls Catholic Community in the summer of 2003, but I have done this ministry for 25 years. I converted to Catholicism in 1987. I love the depth of the Catholic Church and especially Church history and the Second Vatican Council. I am presently getting my Masters in Religious Education through the LIMEX program and should graduate in 2010. I have been married for over 20 years and have three teenagers myself, so I feel my parents pain. My oldest is at Clemson University and my youngest is in junior high. I write mysteries for teens, but have not been published. I am a black belt in TKO like to backpack, fish, paint and wood carve.
  • I love junior high. They are brutally honest and I think that is great! It gives me a chance to answer their concerns. In general sixth grade students are still literal thinkers and don't really question their faith. Seventh and eighth grade they go through a natural separation from their parents and this is the time that about half of them will decide what they believe about God for themselves. Parents are often confused when their sweet child suddenly doubts God exists or the teaching of the Church, but this is normal. As parents we need to be there with the answers to their questions and my program tries to do that in a fun format that enables them to make Catholic friends and want to come and be a part of it. Encouraging junior high student to be involved is crucial to them choosing to be confirmed in high school. If they miss junior high RE and they decide that the Church is not for them when they went through that separation period parents probably will not be able to talk them back into the Catholic faith at confirmation time. Choosing to affirm our faith is not something that is just done in tenth grade. Obviously I'm passionate about my junior high students and I would love to answer any questions parents have both as a parent with teens and as a youth worker, so don't hesitate to call.
