The Music

"Music does what words alone cannot do. It is capable of expressing a dimension of meaning and feeling that words cannot convey." These words from Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship, issued by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in November 2007, provide some insight to the power of music. Liturgical Music can help to create an environment that both allows us to enter into a deeper form of prayer, and unites the whole community in praise. The intent of the music ministry is to support the needs of the Liturgy without dominating, and to draw people more fully into the celebration of the mass. Music should not be a performance, nor should it draw attention to the musicians. Musicians are called to serve the community by using their gifts and talents for the benefit of all (sounds likes a great opportunity for stewardship!!!).

The Idaho Falls Catholic Community has a growing and gifted group of musicians who provide a variety of musical styles and languages (bilingual, Spanish and English) serving at the masses throughout the weekend. All of our groups are looking for additional people with vocal or instrumental skills who want to help make a joyful noise for the Lord. Practice schedules vary by group, and the group commitments range from one service a month to every weekend and I'm sure we can find one to match your schedule.

Please contact Ann Boehmer at 208-589-0567 if you are interested in joining the music ministry (bilingual or English) or if you have any questions. Please contact Deacon Alvaro Ponce at 208-522-4366 if you are interested in joining the Spanish music ministry.
